Dick Oliver and Jim Ryan get into an epic fight about a minute into this video…

This is awesome.  ”You were my boss, but you are no longer.  How did that happen?”  Crazy New Yorkers.

Toronto mayoral candidate Adam Giambrone.  Not sure he’ll get my vote, but the fact that he’s already using the internet to gain exposure could make this an interesting race.

Beijing’s Bird’s Nest stadium hosts “Happy Snow and Ice Season” carnival

Beijing National Stadium aka the “Bird’s Nest” is using snow making machines to create a snow park for tourist.  Environmentalists are criticizing the carnival because of what they believe to be a poor use of energy and water - especially at a time when there is a wide spread drought in the area.

Part of me thinks this looks cool, and part of me understands why it’s under some scrutiny.  I just checked the weather for this week in Beijing and the temperature is well below freezing, so atleast not much has to be done to prevent melting.  There is also apparently a plan in place to collect the water as the snow melts so that it can be used for other purposes.

The DEEEEAL CORNER of the whole situation is that the Happy Snow and Ice Season carnival probably isn’t the best use of resources, however it’s nowhere near as offensive as this.

    Article here.

Mini places giant car sized partially gift wrapped boxes in garbage piles on streets of Amsterdam after Christmas.  Wow, that was a long sentence.  Anyways, very clever.

If you have a couple of minutes, you should check out this video.  Recaps the story of charity: water founder Scott Harrison - former high profile NYC club promoter turned charity building guru.  Charity: water is a non-profit committed to bringing clean water to developing countries.  The cool thing is that their model allows for 100% of public donations go directly to support clean water projects.

Their website is great.  Very well designed with tools to help you start your own online fundraising campaign as well as actually track how your money we spent.  Also over 1.2 million followers on twitter.  Impressive.

Anyways, if you’re looking for somewhere to contribute in the new year, charity: water might be worth a look.  Or at the very least this video is an inspirational watch.

True Blue - Rod Stewart (with The Faces).  This is my favorite Rod Stewart song.  He used to be cool… look at that fine mic stand work and scarf!  Look at him now……
